As one of the top mortgage providers in The Netherlands, ABN AMRO knows what people look for when searching for a new home. Comparing neighbourhoods isn’t easy, but The Neighbourhood Atlas simplifies the search. With a focused, inspirational onboarding process that easily finds compatible neighbourhoods. I mostly worked on the design and illustrations for the onboarding as part of the wonderful team at Code d’Azur.

Fluent Onboarding
The main goal of the onboarding is to give users a short and seamless transition that sets the mood for the rest of the app. Additionally, it lets people set the most important filters to personalise their results. All while making sure not to overwhelm users with too many options when first getting to know the app. This prevents early drop-offs because of complexity.
Each of the three filter categories in the onboarding has its own unique visuals for both possible answers, resulting in 6 different landscapes.
Results are clustered on the map, users can then zoom in to continue the search in areas that interest them.
The filter drawer can be accessed to adjust the choices made in the onboarding. Aditional filters can also be found here to specify further requirements for even more precise results.
In the details panel of the selected neighbourhood, the user can access all relevant data. From average price and the amount of people living there, to the distance of nearby services.
Even though the app was designed mobile-first, the desktop variant allows users even more and quicker control by combining multiple tools within a single screen.
